The data shows that five men were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for homicide, one is a veteran, and the median age is 41. The youngest parolee was a 27-year-old man sentenced in 2014, and the oldest was a 49-year-old man sentenced in 1995.
The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Howard Beecham. He was convicted of homicide in 1993 when he was 22 years old. He is now 48.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
