ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 25: Tarver Event to Provide Information about Fair Housing Protections for Residents

Event

Illinois State House District 25 issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.

Community members learned about fair housing protections and other items related to safe, affordable housing at a fair housing town hall hosted by state Rep. Curtis J. Tarver II, D-Chicago, on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the South Side YMCA, located at S. Stony Island Ave. in Chicago. Tarver joined by state Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago and presenters from the Illinois Human Rights Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights to help residents understand their rights.

“Understanding what protections exist when finding a place to live can be a challenging process to navigate, and I want community members to know what tools they have at their disposal if they are having their rights threatened,” said Tarver. “People have a right to fair, affordable and accessible housing, no matter what, and I am working in Springfield to ensure that this right is protected. Meanwhile, I encourage all residents to attend this informative event.”
