Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board met Nov. 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Chairman Scott Kramer called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. A Roll Call was taken by Deputy Clerk, Heather Riley:

Others Present: Village President Jim E. Claeyssen, Trustee David Schroeder, Mike Munger, and Deputy Clerk Heather Riley

ADOPT THE AGENDA: Scott Kramer moved to adopt the agenda with the following changes:

• Add Santa Event as item #3 under Unfinished Business

• Remove Item #1 Fishing Event with Mike Munger under New Business

• Renumber the items under New Business

Judy Prisby seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES: Scott Kramer moved to approve the minutes from the October 2, 2019 Meeting. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: David Schroeder. No Report.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Mike Munger – Mike Munger who is in charge of the Fishing event wanted to talk to the committee in regards to attendance. Mike Munger explained to the committee that the past few years the fishing event has gotten smaller, with fewer attendees than in the past. After some discussion the committee and Mike Munger decided that they will test out a new time for the fishing events, from 10:00 AM – Noon, in hopes that more people will be in attendance at a later hour. The committee is also going to change the placement of the signs and place them near the elementary schools and some churches.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Halloween Event – The parade was cancelled due to the rain but the party still happened in the Granary at Village Hall. Between 30 – 40 kids participated in the activities and cookie decorating. See the report attached.

2. Scarecrow Update – Jill Wedig and Scott Kramer got the Grinch Scarecrow up at the Village’s spot near the clock after a mix up with Midland States Bank being in the wrong spot. Scott Kramer donated four (4) metal stakes for the recreation board to use in the future.

3. Santa Event – Jill Wedig stated that she currently has 11 and a half dozen cookies in her freezer left over from the Halloween event that need to be frosted still. Jill is taking a cookie decorating class and the instructor has agreed to make the

frosting and decorate the left-over Halloween cookies for a cost of $40.00. Schnucks would not frost the cookies that the committee had left over from the Halloween event. The remaining ten (10) dozen cookies will be purchased from Schnuck’s at $5.00 a dozen. The mayor confirmed that Trustee Jeff O’Hara and his wife Becky will be Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Dan will make the hot chocolate; Scott Kramer will bring the table for the letters and a big pot for the hot chocolate. Jill will purchase a gift card from Cattle and Cream to put with the O’Hara’s thank you card.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. The Real Deal Street Dance Band Discussion – Scott Kramer listened to there

demo and said that they sounded good, however they are a R&B/Funk band and does not believe that is the kind of music that they usual crowd would be interested in. Scott Kramer will contact the band and let them know that the committee is going to go with someone else.

2. Holiday Lights – Jill Wedig moved to request $125.00 for the Holiday Lights display event. Judy Prisby seconded. Motion carried by voice vote. Jill Wedig will pick up the gift cards from Menards for the winners of the Holiday Lights Display.

3. December Meeting – Reminder that the December Recreation Board meeting will be on December 11, 2019 to vote on the Holiday Lights display winners.

ADJOURNMENT: Scott Kramer entertained a motion to adjourn at 7:58 PM. Dan Jarocki seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.
