ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 27: Slaughter Highlights IDHS Resource Hotline

Announcement

Illinois State House District 27 issued the following announcement on April 9.

State Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is highlighting the new “Help is Here” resource from the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), which acts as a central location for residents to access various services provided by the state agency.

“As COVID-19 creates much uncertainty for families across Illinois and here in our community, many may experience an increased need for housing, food assistance and access to medical and mental health care,” said Slaughter. “The new ‘Help is Here’ website feature and hotline can connect residents to the resources they need during this unprecedented time, and also provide information for those struggling with substance abuse, domestic violence and other serious issues to find the help they need.”

The IDHS “Help is Here” feature aims to provide Illinoisans with streamlined access to vital resources such as emergency housing, food, medical services and access to child care. Slaughter is encouraging residents to visit DHS.illinois.gov/helpishere or call 1-833-233-6343 for more information.

“Oftentimes, navigating government websites to find resources can be challenging for those in need,” said Slaughter. “This new feature helps to empower people by hosting all of the critical resources in one location. I commend both the governor and IDHS for providing our residents with this powerful tool and continuing to help us build a stronger Illinois.”
