Q2 2019 Recap: Parolees in Chicago convicted of crimes against justice

There were 45 offenders convicted of crimes against justice released on parole in Chicago during the second quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chicago City Wire.

The data shows that 39 men and six women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes against justice was 33. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 57-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Anthony Jenkins. He was convicted of a crime against justice in 2017 when he was 23 years old. He is now 26.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
