Jan.-June 2019 Recap: Parolees in Chicago convicted of crimes against children

There were four offenders convicted of crimes against children released on parole in Chicago during the first half of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chicago City Wire.

The data shows that four men were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes against children was 35. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old man sentenced in 2012, and the oldest was a 52-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Demarcus P. Feltus. He was convicted of a crime against one or more children in 2015 when he was 30 years old. He is now 35.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders during the first half of 2019 who were convicted of crimes against children.
