Q1 2019 Recap: Parolees near Illinois zip code 60609 convicted of homicide

There were three offenders convicted of homicide released on parole near Illinois zip code 60609 during the first quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chicago City Wire.

The data shows that three men were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 44. The youngest parolee was a 43-year-old man sentenced in 1996, and the oldest was a 46-year-old man sentenced in 2011.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Robert Spencer. He was convicted of homicide in 1996 when he was 19 years old. He is now 43.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
