There were 41 offenders convicted of property crimes released on parole near Illinois zip code 60607 during the first half of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chicago City Wire.

The data shows that 40 men and one woman were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for property crimes, three were veterans, and the median age was 43. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 70-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was George Chatman. He was convicted of a property crime in 2010 when he was 49 years old. He is now 57.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
