Some question whether the “All-in Illinois” slogan—which represents the Prairie State's commitment to social distancing during the COVID-19 crisis—applies to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s wife.

According to an April 29 report from Patch.com, First Lady M.K. Pritzker is at the couple’s estate in Wellington, Florida.

Various outlets have noted that the governor does not mention his wife and daughter when discussing how he handles the crisis personally.

In one interview, he said that he watches Netflix, and chats with his son and makes calls after dinner.

"I'll just say I'm managing through this time reasonably well," said Pritzker. "I think there is an emotional component to this that I'll just not spend a lot of time on."

On April 1, Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced a relief fund for struggling artists, production and entertainment workers consisting of $1,500 single-award grants from the $4 million “Arts for Illinois Relief Fund.”

Pritzker's wife will be leading further fundraising efforts for the arts relief fund, according to Block Club Chicago, with Lightfoot’s wife, Amy Eshleman.

The Patch article noted that Mrs. Pritzker can raise funds for Illinois artists from anywhere, and the couple’s daughter is training for competitive show jumping in Florida during this time.

Still, the publication raises the point that it seems strange for the state’s first lady to be out of the public eye at a family vacation home while so many Illinois citizens remain home under Gov. Pritzker’s extended stay-at-home order—the second longest in the country.

One of three properties the Pritzkers own, the Wellington estate was purchased for $12 million shortly after Mr. Pritzker was elected to the governorship, Patch reported, and is not far from big names in entertainment and technology in the “winter equestrian capital of the world."
