The Obama Foundation has honored Latrice McArthur’s nonprofit organization for making a significant difference in the lives of Chicago students by delivering dinners to them and their families each week.
According to CBSN Channel 2 in Chicago, Wellness with Bella, has been providing dinners to the families and students of 22 Chicagoland schools.
“It’s the highest honor that you could really think of,” McArthur told CBSN of being recognized by former president Barack Obama's foundation. “The work that I do, I don’t do it for the recognition, but to have such a wonderful organization like the Obama Foundation reach out to us, it was amazing.”
McArthur says that Wellness with Bella's efforts helps kids every night.
“So many of our students would go to bed hungry on nights and weekends, so we figured out a way to mobilize, to be able to deliver a week’s worth of meals for all of our students and their families,” McArthur told CBSN.
