Leef: Providing Medicaid coverage regardless of immigration status adds 'to the never-ending list of entitlements'

Republican and former congressional candidate Dr. Jeff Leef seethes that Illinois has finally hit rock bottom stemming from what’s happening in Springfield.

“Already billions in debt from unfunded union pensions, the next heroic lifesaving measure forced upon us is not only welcoming undocumented immigrants but paying for their health insurance,” Leef told Chicago City Wire. “How about shelter? Shall you inform the realtors that they will be paid a minimal salary instead of commission because people are entitled not only to shelter, but the best available?”

All Leef’s anger is fueled by news that a provision in the newly passed state budget that Gov. J.B. Pritzker is soon expected to sign off on stands to make Illinois the first state in the country to provide Medicaid regardless of immigration status. As of July 1, 2021, noncitizens older than age of 65 with incomes of $12,670 or less would be eligible to receive Medicaid benefits.

Leef wonders if and where it’ll ever end.

“Isn't then food and water a human right?” he said. “I have to give the leftists credit. While yes, they are innately evil, they are nothing if not patient. Trying their best to finish us off with their near totalitarian rules during the pandemic, they steadfastly trudge ahead and add another line item to the never-ending list of entitlements.”

At the same time, Leef argues that people are losing economic, political and religious freedoms seemingly by the day.

“And as in every other time in human history, this is the ultimate result of leftist ideology,” he said. “As long as the naive liberals, incapable of analytical thought, continue to support leftist ideology, the left will win.”
