Illinois Political Corruption Exposed (IPCE) tweeted June 3 calling U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth's (D-Ill.) angry tweet about President Trump "virtue signaling blabber."
"What should sicken you is @GovPritzker and @chicagosmayor’s incendiary press conference which escalated looting and riots in #Illinois," IPCE continued in its tweet. "Bringing up 375 troops was irresponsible and dangerous. Did you support inadequate troop levels in military? #twill"
Duckworth's tweet from earlier that day expressed anger with Trump's decision to politicize the military.
"Last night, I watched as President Trump, having gassed peaceful protestors just so he could do this photo op," Duckworth said in a video attached to her tweet. "Then he went on to tear-gas priests who were helping protestors at Lafayette Park. And then he went on to remove a member of the clergy and a layman from the church patio so he could have his church photo op."
Duckworth said as Trump walked to the church he was followed by the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff in military fatigues and the secretary of defense.
"[They were] walking behind like lap dogs behind a draft-dodging wannabe tin-pot dictator," Duckworth said. "I was appalled that this commander in chief was flying Black Hawk helicopters above Americans exercising their First Amendment rights. How dare you politicize our military?"
Duckworth said the military shouldn't be politicized.
"Our military is the most diverse institution in this country," Duckworth noted. "Our military is one of the final places where Americans have nothing but greatest respect. How dare you pervert the honor of our military by threatening to use them against their fellow Americans. I am sickened to the core by this man."
Several replies were made to IPCE's tweet criticizing Duckworth.
"She is absolutely part of the problem," one user wrote.
Another said looting, murder and destruction were not constitutional rights.
