Cost of college went up for resident students at City Colleges of Chicago-Olive-Harvey College

In-state tuition and fees rose 13.4 percent for 2018-19 at City Colleges of Chicago-Olive-Harvey College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $9,216 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $1,090 more than the $8,126 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 25.3 percent more than residents this year, or $11,544. Their price tag was reduced 3 percent from $11,906 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 183 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1 million and 19 students took out student loans totaling more than $75,456.

Including all undergraduates (2,663), 1,110 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.5 million, and 201 students took out $877,651 in federal student loans.
