Krupa argues governor's progressive tax plan is 'totally wrong for Illinois'

Conservative activist David Krupa fears what could be Illinois’ future if those entrusted to stand guard over it actually get to have their way.

“The progressive tax Gov. Pritzker and Democrats are so adamant about would be totally wrong for Illinois,” he told Chicago City Wire. “I’ve met so many people that say if this thing goes through they’re moving or at least moving their business out of Illinois. We’re talking about waking up to all who different state.”

Krupa, who formerly ran for Chicago alderman, argues nothing about the tax the governor has been pushing since his days as a candidate seems to add up. He points to a new Tax Foundation report that finds the state’s business competitiveness rank will tumble all the way down to 47th in the country, ahead of only New Jersey, California and New York, should the tax become law.

Through it all, Krupa holds out hope should voters follow through at the polls on what he says many of them have been telling him leading up to Election Day.

“I think people will vote against this thing as not being in their best interest,” he said. “I’ve met a lot of Democrats that feel the same way I do. I think the only chance of it passing is if the governor and his cronies are successful in tricking people into thinking this is really a fair tax. They’re spending a lot of money to try to get that done.”

But Krupa insists he is just as determined.

“They need 60% support at the polls next month for this to pass and I really don’t think they have it,” he said. “Our goal as Republicans wanting what’s best for this state is to make sure as many people as possible understand what’s at stake so things stay that way.”
