City of Wheaton Fine and Cultural Arts Commission met Sept. 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

I. Call to Order

President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. Those present: Mike Bock, Dee Hicks, Laurie Swanson Oberhelman, Tony Asta, and Kathy Young. Sara Antas was absent. Guests included: David Duve and Gerry Gallagher.

II. Agenda Items:

Mike Bock moved and Dee Hicks seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion carried

Agenda Item

Tony Asta moved and Laurie Swanson Oberhelman seconded the approval of Minutes from September 18, 2020. Motion carried.

Agenda Item

 Window Painting: There are only twelve confirmed artists which leaves 18 windows to be assigned. Mike and Tony will follow up with their contacts. Two windows have been completed. Committed artists will be asked if they would like to do another window. Laurie will contact them.

Community Golf ball. Mike will ask City Hall if they would place it in lobby so that citizens could see it.

Fire Plug painting. Mike checked with Lombard Public Works Department and found that the project was in Villa Park. He will follow up.

New commissioner. Mike has received two applicants and will send their resumes to Commission members. They have been invited to our regular commission meeting Tuesday September 22.

Music in the Park was cancelled. There will be future discussion about this event including the renaming.

Meeting adjourned at 6:01 to closed session.

David Duve and Gerry Gallagher submitted applications to join the Fine and Cultural Arts Commission. Both candidates were given up to 15 minutes to discuss their qualifications.
