Cook County Hospital issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.
Quitting smoking is no easy task. As we all stay home more, there is no better time to form new, healthy habits. Follow these tips to help stop smoking:
- Pick a stop date and record your reasons for stopping.
- Get support from friends, family, your physician and stop-smoking resources and programs.
- Reduce stress to curb the urge to smoke.
- Take medication if directed by your doctor. Check with your health and prescription drug plan about coverage. You may also be able to use funds from your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to cover out-of-pocket costs.
- Be patient with yourself and forgive setbacks. Focus on your goals and reasons for quitting.
