David Krupa (R-Chicago), 13th Ward Committeeman, says he can easily see why growing factions of law enforcement are publicly moving to go on the attack against Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
“No one in law enforcement wants to be enforcing laws that are hurting people,” Krupa told Chicago City Wire, “That’s what the governor’s COVID policy is doing to people and businesses across the state.”
Krupa points to the governor’s latest orders banning indoor dining in places like McHenry County as a glowing example, adding he completely stands behind McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally pledge to not enforce the governor’s orders banning indoor dining in that region.
“Enough is enough and small business owners have gotten tired of seeing everything they’ve worked long and hard for totally destroyed,” said Krupa, “It was just a matter of time before more of them took a stance.”
Krupa said Pritzker’s reaction has been even easier to predict.
“He’s trying to hold onto power any way he can, so all the temper tantrums and threats are to be expected,” said Krupa.
Topping the list is the governor’s vow to strip business owners that violate his orders of state licenses.
“I wouldn’t think he would be able to do anything that and I wouldn’t think the threat of it would stop anyone from operating their business,” added Krupa, who formerly ran for Chicago alderman. “I think even the governor knows that.”
Krupa said he wonders if the governor ever stops to think of just how many people his actions are negatively impacting.
“It’s having an effect on the mental health of people and on the economy as a whole,” said Krupa, “I don’t think they’re many people left where someone at least in their family is seeing their livelihood impacted by all this. When you get people this desperate they fight back in whatever way they can.”
