April Perry has been recently designated as a hearing officer for the Chicago Police Board.

Perry was a chief ethics officer for Cook County State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx who is “quickly proving herself to be one of the most corrupt prosecutors in the history of the state, according to Martin Preib’s article in Chicago Contrarian.

In the wake of the Jussie Smollett, case Perry resigned but she “never came forward and told the public what really happened or publicly condemned Foxx’s actions,” Preib stated.

In selecting a successful candidate for the hearing officer post, the Police Board should be able to consider the “ability to be impartial when conducting disciplinary hearings.”

“Perry, who quietly walked away from the Smollett scandal, is the member of a board supposedly aimed at accountability for the police?” was a concern raised by Preib in his article.

He also pointed out that Foxx has released convicted killers, which Perry as a chief ethics officer allowed. This action should “forever ban her from being seated on an oversight agency judging Chicago police officers,” Preib argued. “As the former ethics official to Kimberly Foxx who remained silent as Foxx released men convicted of terrible crimes, Perry’s appointment to the Police Board is more than just curious. It is an absurdity.”
