Republican political strategist Chris Robling is reserving judgment on a story now making the rounds alleging that Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Rockford) had a romantic relationship with a former Russian beauty queen who later applied for an internship in his office.
“I’m no supporter of Congressman Kinzinger. However, it’s an unsourced story,” Kinzinger told Chicago City Wire. “I would not touch the allegation with a 40-foot pole.”
Olga Kambod told the National File she first met Kinzinger back in 2018 and soon after that the two began a romantic relationship that lasted four months and included her sending him racy photos at his request. She says she provided reporters with “extensive communications” that back up her claims of the relationship.
The National File described the text messages exchanged between Kambod and an old phone number once linked to Kinzinger as “sexually charged and volatile.”
In addition, Kambod is said to have supplied emails from Kinzinger’s congressional staff delving into the internship she was set to serve in.
Kambod alleges the relationship between the two started to falter after the congressman became incensed when she accused him of suffering from “low levels of testosterone.”
She never served the internship and claims she was later the target of a full-blown “over-the-phone intimidation campaign” that included calls from someone claiming to be “Capitol Police” as part of what she saw as an effort to keep her quiet.
Still, Robling takes it all with a grain of salt.
“If Ms. Kambod goes public, then it’s a different story,” he said.
As for the emails reportedly provided by Kambod, he added, “given my cyber security background, I urge disbelief of asserted texts or emails. They are not self-authenticating.”
