Robling: 'Thanks to all who expose this corruption' regarding insurgent candidates

Republican political strategist Chris Robling is proud to see parents and concerned citizens across the state taking stands in next month’s school board races.

“Local Illinois schools, in general, are agencies captured by their teachers, staff and administrators,” Robling told Chicago City Wire. “Parents are to be divided and ignored. Insiders cover for each other; accountability is anathema. Education is the last item on their agenda.”

Robling lamented things hadn’t been any different in this election cycle.

In one instance, a group known as Citizens for River Forest felt compelled to launch a Change.org petition calling for members of the River Forest School Board to denounce an alleged harassment campaign that led to a District 90 candidate ending his candidacy.

Scott Hall withdrew after he alleged the harassment began to extend beyond just him to include his family and friends.

“While I set out with great purpose and noble intent, I, my family, my friends and even local businesses with which I associate have been repeatedly threatened, harassed and disparaged,” Hall posted on Facebook. “I cannot continue to subject myself, my family and friends to this harassment.”

Teacher’s union-backed candidate Sarah Eckmann, 39, said she had nothing to do with the reported harassment Hall experienced on a regular basis.

The West Cook News reported actions taken against Hall allegedly included Eckmann supporters sending disparaging letters to his employer as well as to a local nonprofit preschool where Hall sits on the board.

Robling sees it all as just a campaign to keep the status quo intact.

“If these geese laying golden eggs are subject to a voter- or parent-takeover, internal beneficiaries fiercely guard their cushy deals,” he said. “Thanks to all who expose this corruption, and may they all get elected next week.”
