Illinois GOP Chairman Don Tracy will join other Republican state leaders hosting Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-Houston) at an evening reception in Rosemont on Aug. 14.
“Join IL GOP Chairman Don Tracy with Finance Committee members Vince Kolber, Brian Kasal, and Richard Porter in hosting an evening reception featuring Texas Congressman and American Hero Dan Crenshaw,” the group posted on Facebook.
With the event kicking off at 6 p.m. at Carlucci Rosemont, tickets are $150 person and $250 per couple. Sponsorships are also available.
The public event will be one of the first for Crenshaw since he underwent emergency eye surgery back in late April. Crenshaw was serving as a U.S. Navy SEAL in Afghanistan in 2012 when he lost his right eye and suffered damage to his left from an improvised explosive device.
"Last week, I had my first follow-up visit with my surgeon, which went very well,” Crenshaw said in a statement. “To our relief, my retina was still in place during my follow-up appointment. I can lift my head up again and no longer have to position myself face-down, which is a relief. This is obviously good news, but it doesn’t mean we are out of the woods yet."
Crenshaw said he recently noticed “some dark, blurry spots in my vision,” and doctors at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston discovered that his left retina was detaching.
“I am not sure how my vision will be in a few weeks, but I am hopeful and confident that it will return to normal,” he wrote.
