Illinois Republican Party Chairman Don Tracy has appointed Jesus E. Solorio Jr. as a spokesperson for the state party.
“I look forward to working with local media to expand our Republican voice in the Chicagoland area,” Solorio posted on Facebook. “Thankful to Illinois Republican Party Chairman Don Tracy for appointing me.”
Solorio, who previously ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 4th Congressional District, also currently serves a 23rd Ward Republican Committeeman and as chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Illinois.
During his Congressional campaign, Solorio pushed a pro-business agenda “that will help job creators rebound and rehire workers.” He said, “we must strengthen our immigration laws and bring back manufacturing into our district
Solorio also spoke out against the Justice in Policing Act, blasting it as "too broad” and worrying that it would “ultimately handicap the ability of cops to do their job.”
Solorio identified the three most pressing issues in the district as the economy, education and health care.
"As I talk to voters across the district, the economy, education, and health care are at the top of the list of concerns,” he said.
Solorio is a business owner and former campaign finance director for Strive Strategies.
Earlier this year, the Illinois Republican Party Central Committee tabbed Tracy as its new chairman, replacing Tim Schneider. A partner in the Springfield-based law firm of Brown Hay and Stephens, Tracy also once served as chairman of the Illinois Gaming Board during former Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration.
