A 911 dispatcher for Chicago has singled out Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) and called her a "bully," putting the blame on her for the city's police shortage that's impacting emergency response in the city.

Keith Thornton Jr. said "we're screwed" in a statement he made during a Facebook live video he posted on Christmas Eve.

"Today, we're talking about the northwest side of Chicago, and this was brought to my attention by several of my officers who've texted me and said that they were scared. They're tired of this nonsense and they have no backing, and they're scared of being out there by themselves working in the 16th District," Thornton said in the Facebook video. "And I'm going to tell you right now: 16th District is so shorthanded with officers that when you call 911, you're not getting a quick response. Like many other parts of the city, officers are not coming to you."

According to ABC 7, Thornton was recognized for how he handled the shooting of Chicago Police Officer Ella French; but now he is voicing his frustrations about the shortage of police officers in the 16th Police District.

Back in October, police departments in suburban areas were asked whether they would be able to assist with situations in the city if the officer shortages in the city became a dire situation, FOX News reported.

CWB Chicago reported a convicted felon who was out on bail shot at two police officers on Christmas Eve. The officers were not injured in the attack, but the suspect, Nokomis Jefferson, 29, has been linked to guns and other violence in Chicago for almost 10 years. Jefferson was previously arrested in March for being a felon in possession of a firearm, but was not charged with possessing a stolen firearm even though the gun was reported stolen out of Missouri.
