A Chicago woman has been arrested and charged with a felony in connection to the August vandalism at the memorial of Chicago Police Officer Ella French who was killed in the line of duty last year.

Anna Kochakian, 26, was taken into custody on a warrant for Criminal Damage to Property - Defacement of a Police Memorial charge. Tom Ahern, the deputy director for News Affairs and Communication for the Chicago Police Department, shared a press release from the Illinois State Police on Twitter announcing Kochakain's arrest on Feb. 9.

"At approximately 10 a.m., District 15 Investigators and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) took Kochakian into custody at her residence. Kochakian was handcuffed by CPD utilizing the handcuffs belonging to Officer French's partner, Officer Carlos Yanez, who was shot during the same incident where Officer French lost her life," the release stated.

According to the release, an ISP Protective Services Unit Trooper on routine foot patrol at the James R. Thompson Center was told on Aug. 19, 2021 that Officer French's memorial had been vandalized. The trooper discovered French's picture had been removed, crumpled up, and tossed in a trash can. After a complete investigation, troopers were able to obtain a warrant for Kochakian from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. She was due in court for a bond hearing over the matter on Feb. 10.

Brothers Emonte Morgan, 21, and Eric Morgan, 22, have been arrested in connection to the shooting that killed Officer French, and seriously injured Officer Yanez, according to WGN-TV.

Officer French lost her life on Aug. 7 when prosecutors said she and her partner, Officer Yanez, pulled over a vehicle for expired license plates in Englewood, NBC Chicago reported. Prosecutors have said that Emonte Morgan shot French in the back of her head, and shot Yanez multiple times, but he was able to return fire and injure Emonte Morgan.
