(LOCKPORT, Ill.) –Police Officer and community leader Patrick Sheehan launched his campaign to represent Illinois’ 19th State Senate District. The newly-drawn District encompasses towns and villages across Cook and Will counties, including Homer Glen, Mokena, Frankfort, and Country Club Hills.
“I’m a father, a football coach, and a fifteen-year veteran of a police department. I’ve witnessed our leaders in Springfield pass laws that place financial burdens on middle class families and weaken the tools law enforcement officials need to keep our communities safe,” Sheehan said. “Those political decisions led me to seek additional ways in which I could serve our community, and stand up for the hard-working families who believe that our elected officials no longer represent their beliefs,” he continued.
An active community leader, Sheehan is the President of the Lockport Jr. Porters Youth Football & Cheer Organization. After stepping into the role in 2020, Pat engaged with the community to improve the group’s financial standing, securing local business sponsorships and a $10,000 grant from the Retired NFL Players Association Chicago Chapter. During the pandemic, the League was unable to play at their local high school due to IDPH health standards, so Pat worked with private and public sector leaders to secure an alternative site for future use.
Pat has served as a Commissioner on the Lockport Township Park District Board since June of 2021, working to enrich the sports and recreation opportunities for families across the city. He is also a member of the Homer Township Republican Organization, Will County Republican Central Committee, Lockport Chamber of Commerce, Southland Black Chamber of Commerce and Heritage Corridor Business Alliance.
Born and raised in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood, Pat is the son of a Chicago Police Officer and a Park District Supervisor. He attended Providence Catholic High School, where one of his children is now enrolled today. After graduating, he worked full time while attending Saint Xavier University to achieve his dream of becoming a Police Officer.
Pat and his wife Susie, a small business owner, reside in Lockport with their five children.
