Republican attorney general candidate Thomas DeVore is hosting a fundraiser on May 3.

“Southsiders support Thomas DeVore," a flyer for the event reads. "Join us for a fun meet and greet with Thomas DeVore, running for IL Attorney General.”

The Southern Illinois Attorney “knows the power of government is with the PEOPLE," according to his campaign website.

“Tuesday May 3, 2022 / 6pm. Cork and Kerry," the invite also stated. "A candidate who supports due process rights of all Illinois citizens. Free admission. 10614 S Western Ave Chicago, IL 60643.”

DeVore has rode a tide of successful lawsuits ending masking and COVID mandates. Most recently, DeVore had a temporary stay order granted against a vaccination mandate for teachers.

"Although Tom often battles in the courtroom, his true passion is to educate, empower, and equip the PEOPLE with the necessary resources to ensure we remain a government of the people, for the people, by the people," the website stated.

The Greenville-based attorney was initially aiming to run for a judgeship but changed his candidacy for the state’s top attorney. He’ll face off against David Shestokas in June 28 Republican primary. "We cannot rely on a single branch of government to protect the fabric of our great nation," DeVore said.

The winner of that race will likely take on incumbent Attorney General Kwame Raoul. Raoul’s office has faced criticism for its inaction on the case of former house speaker Michael Madigan. Madigan gave Raoul $1 million in the 2018 campaign season, according to Chicago Tribune.

Despite being indictment for 22 counts of public corruption, Madigan has continued to be active in politics. According to a recent NBC Chicago story, Madigan was sighted in his former campaign office on Chicago's southwest side, Prairie State Wire reported.
