BIG EAST runner-up DePaul received some postseason recognition Friday from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
In the final Midwest Region singles rankings, the Blue Demons' No. 1 player Yuliya Kizelbasheva wound up at No. 20.
The sophomore from Russia doubled up on accolades after teaming with Lenka Antonijevic to finish No. 9 in the ITA's regional doubles rankings.
Kizelbasheva was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection after leading coach Marisa Arce's team to its eighth consecutive BIG EAST title match. She was 15-13 overall in singles with an 8-6 mark at the No. 1 position in the dual season.
She won a BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week award and teamed with Antonijevic to bring home a BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week award.
DePaul's No. 1 doubles tandem was 18-8 overall including 9-4 in the dual season and 6-1 versus BIG EAST competition.
"In a region with a lot of top Big Ten programs along with Notre Dame, that is quite the accomplishment," Arce said.
Indeed, the Midwest Region is headed by Ohio State which was No. 15 in the final ITA national poll. Other nationally ranked teams included No. 18 Michigan, No. 41 Northwestern, No. 45 Wisconsin, No. 48 Notre Dame and No. 53 Illinois.
Meanwhile, Arce is keeping her fingers crossed for another postseason accolade. Graduate student Marija Jovicic is a finalist for CoSIDA Academic All-America that will be announced on Wednesday.
