Two City Colleges of Chicago faculty were nominated by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) for the 2022 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member Award.
Dr. Joyce Jones of Daley College and Shanina M. Thomas of Harold Washington College were recognized for their nominations at the 2022 ICCTA awards banquet on June 10, 2022, in Chicago.
Dr. Joyce Jones is an adjunct biology professor at Daley College. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in education from Chicago State University. Later, Dr. Jones earned a master’s degree in cell biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a doctorate in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC), and a National Institutes of Health four-year post-doctorate fellowship in cardiovascular physiology at the UMC School of Medicine & Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center.
Shanina M. Thomas is an adjunct African American studies professor at Harold Washington College. Professor Thomas graduated from Olive-Harvey College with an associate degree in African American studies. Later, she attended Chicago State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in African American studies and a master’s in history, graduating with honors.
