DePaul Women’s Basketball Honored by WBCA for Academic Excellence

The DePaul women's basketball team was honored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Wednesday with a Team Academic Special Mention as the Blue Demons wrapped up the 2021-22 academic year with a 3.510 team GPA.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2021-22 season is the 27th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

This year's release also marks the first year in which all teams which qualified for the top 25 rankings with the minimum 3.0 GPA also are recognized for their academic accomplishment.

Coach Doug Bruno's squads have consistently been top in the nation in classroom performance as the Blue Demons have earned WBCA Academic Top 25 recognition on 13 occasions including in 2005-06 (No. 11- 3.361), 2006-07 (No. 25 - 3.294), 2008-09 (No. 11 - 3.402), 2009-10 (No. 8 - 3.455), 2010-11 (No. 3 - 3.582), 2011-12 (No. 3 - 3.604), 2012-13 (T2 - 3.625), 2013-14 (No. 8 - 3.559), 2014-15 (No. 3 - 3.622), 2015-16 (No. 21 - 3.470), 2016-17 (No. 14 - 3.561), 2017-18 (No. 15 - 3.531), and 2018-19 (No. 17 - 3.561).
