Communists opened an office for the Center for Political Innovation (CPI) in Chicago boasting support for the Russian-occupied territory in Ukraine termed the Donetsk People's Republic.

The group showed their support via a video in which they used icons in favor of the historically communist bloc.

“CPI Chicago Opening Ceremony!” the group tweeted.

One of those in the office opening ceremony held a black placard with the letter "Z" emblazoned on it in a show of support for Russia President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

The red beret-clad members entered the scene to socialist anthem "The Internationale."

Journalist Caleb Maupin is the founder of CPIUSA.

“We at CPI celebrate the great moment in history where Russia, China and America stood together to defeat fascism. Those are the politics we want to revive,” Maupin told Newsweek.

One Reddit user compared the "Z" to a World War II-era Swastika.

“Freaks from ‘Center for Political Innovation’ in Chicago USA hold 'Z' swastika and flag of so called ‘Donetsk People's Republic,’” the user posted.

The group gave an award to former U.S. Senate staffer Tara Reade, who once accused President Joe Biden of sexual assault.

"This is quite the spectacle, even for Chicago politics. They give Tara Reade an award in the third tweet as she stands in front of the hammer and sickle. I’m willing to entertain the possibility that these are just dailies from Season Five of 'Stranger Thing,’” journalist Michael Weiss tweeted.
