Committee action approving the Energy and Environment Committee minutes from August 3, 2022.
REGULAR AGENDA

Presentation & discussion regarding the Single Use Plastic Prohibition and the continued pursuit of waste diversion goals.
∙ On December 14th, 2021, the County Board passed a joint resolution adopting a policy to prohibit single use plastics in Lake County Operations by January 1st, 2023.
∙ On September 8th, 2020, the County Board passed a joint resolution committing Lake County government operations to a 60% diversion rate of recyclables and organics from its own waste stream by 2030 and 90% by 2040.
∙ The Sustainability Program Manager has created a presentation reflecting work with vendors, partner organizations, and department staff which details methods for eliminating single use plastic from operations.

Presentation & discussion regarding the Grow Solar Chicagoland 2023 program.
∙ At previous committee meetings, members requested that staff investigate the Grow Solar Chicagoland program facilitated by The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA).
∙ Staff met with a representative from MREA to receive an overview of the program.
∙ The Sustainability Program Manager has created a presentation to give an overview of the program and seek direction from the Committee.

Update on Committee Workplan.
∙ Staff will provide updates on numerous workplan items to include: the Greenest Region Compact Framework, the Lake County Green Team, support for Green Living Fair event, and County Operations Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions targets.
