About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to residents in the 009th district (Deering) of robbery/vehicular hijacking incidents which have occurred during the month of December. In these incidents, offender(s) approach the victims while they are either inside of their vehicles or just after they exit from their vehicles. The offender(s) then display a handgun before taking their vehicles and property. Incident times and locations are listed below:

About the Offenders:

Two African American Males, 17-25 years old

#1 wearing white hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans

#3 wearing gray hoodie, black vest, black pants

Incident date and times:

• 5600 Block of South Wolcott Avenue on December 30, 2022 at 12:25AM.
• 2000 Block of West Garfield Blvd. on December 30, 2022 at 6:15AM.
• 5000 Block of South Winchester Avenue on December 30, 2022 at 6:17.

What you can do:

•  Always be aware of your surroundings
•  Report suspicious activity immediately
•  If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
•  Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc...)
•  Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
•  If video surveillance equipment is present, please save a copy of the incident for investigating detectives
•  If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
•  Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
•  Do NOT leave keys in your vehicle with the vehicle running.
