Despite four Blue Demons finishing in double figures for the second-straight game, DePaul could not withstand a second-half surge by the host Georgetown Hoyas in an 87-73 setback at McDonough Arena on Wednesday night.

Darrione Rogers had a team-high 22 points to go along with nine assists, while Aneesah Morrow tallied her 15th double-double of the season and 42nd of her career with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jorie Allen added 14 points while Kendall Holmes chipped in 12.

DePaul (11-8, 4-4 BIG EAST), the league leader in rebounds, dropped the rebounding battle 39-32. After 20 minutes of play the score saw the teams even at 38 before the Hoyas put up 49 second-half points to just 35 for the Blue Demons.

The game opened with a frenetic pace in the first five minutes with both teams trading baskets, knotted at 14 at the first media timeout. The Hoyas took a 22-18 advantage after a pair of free throws, before Rogers found Morrow on the block for a layup with time expiring to cut the deficit to two, 22-20, after one.

The Blue Demons used a 6-0 run behind a Holmes three and Allen and-one in transition to reclaim the lead 32-29 with 5:11 remaining in the second quarter. DePaul claimed a 36-31 lead, their largest advantage of the half, while simultaneously holding the Hoyas without a field goal for a three-minute stretch. The score stood knotted at 38 at the break.

Allen had 14 first-half points while Morrow had nine and Rogers chipped in eight points to go with eight assists.

Georgetown (9-9, 2-7) used a 10-0 run in a two-minute span to jump in front by 11, 54-43, with 5:31 remaining in the third quarter. Holmes snapped the scoring drought with a five-point run of her own, before a Rogers jumper in the lane cut the deficit to six, 56-50. The Blue Demons trailed 59-54 heading into the fourth quarter.

After DePaul netted the first two baskets of the fourth, the Hoyas responded with 12-2 run to push their lead back to 13, in front 71-58. The Blue Demons would come no closer than 10 as Georgetown claimed the win on their home court.

Kennedy Fauntleroy led Georgetown with 25 points.
