Stanford Comes Back to Get Past Cougars 72-65 in Men’s Basketball

Chicago State's men's basketball team led by 12 points with 13 minutes remaining in the second half but host Stanford took advantage of CSU scoring droughts to turn a deficit into a lead and ultimately hold on for a seven-point win. Wesley Cardet scored a career high 31 points and the Cougars committed a season-low seven turnovers but two three-minute scoring droughts and a six-minute drought to end the game were enough for the Cardinal to come back and close out the contest at the line.

In addition to Cardet's 31 points, both Elijah Weaver and Jahsean Corbett contributed 13 points while Corbett led the team in rebounds with eight.

The Cougars return home following a four-game road trip where they are undefeated and will host Aurora University on Saturday, January 28 at 2 p.m. A win over Aurora would match a five-game home win streak dating back to the 2013-14 season. The Spartans, members of the NACC, enter the week with an 12-7 record and 7-5 in conference play.
