DePaul’s Morrow, Daye Nab BIG EAST Weekly Honors

DePaul women's basketball swept the BIG EAST Weekly Awards on Monday, February 6 as sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow earned Player of the Week honors while freshman guard Tara Daye was picked Rookie of the Week. The duo was instrumental in a 1-1 week for the Blue Demons including a 45-point victory over Xavier on Saturday.

Morrow collected her sixth Player of the Week honor in the past two seasons after leading the league in scoring last week in back-to-back outings of 30+ points. At Creighton on Wednesday, Morrow went for a game-high 34 points while draining a career-best six triples and grabbing six boards. In Saturday's home win over Xavier, the sophomore had game highs of 30 points and 11 rebounds for her 18th double-double of the season – fourth most in Division I – and registered a career-high seven steals.  For the week, Morrow averaged 32.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals with the points and steals totals leading all BIG EAST players.

Daye earned league accolades for the first time in her career after leading the BIG EAST in assists last week, averaging 7.5 dimes per game at Creighton and against Xavier. Against the Bluejays, the newcomer had 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists and followed that with a 12-assist outing in her first career start in the win over Xavier, adding five rebounds and four points. For the week the Newark, N.J. native averaged 7.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.5 assists.

DePaul (12-11, 5-7 BIG EAST) returns to the floor on Wednesday, Feb. 8 when Butler visits Wintrust Arena for a 7 p.m. tilt.
