U.S. Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia (D-IL) admits his son's involvement in a gang lifestyle in a recent advertisement.
In an ad made for the Chicago mayor’s race, Garcia said he 'nearly lost his son.'
“I've lost friends and neighbors to gun violence," Garcia said in the ad. "I nearly lost my son to the gangs. We can't afford to lose one more kid. So I won't stand for a failed mayor. So desperate. All she can do is run a fast smear campaign against me. You know me. I'm Chuy Garcia. I've walked the walk, fought against corruption, and for real progressive reform. We can tackle crime and invest in opportunity for everyone. Let's build the safer, stronger Chicago together.”
The advertisement comes after Chicago City Wire published a piece on the congressmen’s 39-year-old son, Samuel R. Garcia, who has long terrorized the congressmen’s district and neighborhood near the congressman's home on 25th Street in the Little Village neighborhood. He has been arrested several times for gang activities as a member of Two-Six, also known as the Gangster Two Six Nation. The younger Garcia was caught illegally possessing a gun in 2021. He was charged with felony aggravated use of a weapon but was able to evade charges In two incidents Samuel Garcia allegedly attacked police officers. His father’s influence has helped him obtain top-flight legal representation from some of the city’s largest law firms.
Garcia has been no friend to the Chicago Police Department. John Garrido III, formerly an officer with the Chicago Police Department’s 16th District, said last time Garcia ran for mayor a reporter was demonized by the Chicago press corps after bringing up Garcia’s gang-banger son. “They brought that up before when (Garcia) ran against Rahm they came down on one of their reporters, Phil Ponce, and it was. They beat up on him for, for bringing up family members, you know, but at the end of the day I mean it, it sometimes can have a give you an idea of who the candidate is as far as you know, how he raises their kids,” Garrido added that Garcia lied and maligned several police officers during the civil unrest of 2020. Lightfoot and a bevy of Chicago Democrats came out against police who were sheltering in former congressman Bobby Rush’s office after BLM rioting. The press conference has been called a fabrication in many ways, including the timeline that Lightfoot, Garcia, and others created of the events.
Meanwhile, Garcia has been slamming others for the “danger” they present via politics. “Garcia nearly got a bad case of apoplexy when he heard that DeSantis would visit and speak to the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police — the very same group that endorsed Vallas for mayor. Garcia called on Vallas to “publicly reject” DeSantis’ visit and said DeSantis presented a ‘danger’ to Illinois,” Rick Moran wrote for PJ Media.
The Center Square reports, “According to Safewise, Illinois had a higher violent crime rate at 4.3 incidents per 1,000, compared to the national average of 4.0. Total crime in Chicago is also up 41% compared to 2021 when looking at police statistics."
