About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 003rd District (Grand Crossing) of Robbery incidents which have occurred during the months of February and March. During these incidents 2-3 Masked Offenders approach the victim while the victim was sitting inside of their vehicle. The Offenders display firearms and demand the victim's property. In addition, one of the Offenders entered the victim's vehicle and removed the victim's belongings. In the incident reported under RD#JG171389, the victim was on foot. These incidents have occurred in the geographical locations listed below.

Incident locations and times:

7100 block of South Eberhart Ave., on February 23, 2023, at 12:45 A.M. 

7300 block of South Indiana Ave., on February 28, 2023, at 07:22 P.M.

7100 block of South Vernon Ave., on March 02, 2023, at 11:15 A.M.

About the offenders:

2-3, African American Males, wearing ski masks

Vehicle used:

JG169538- A white or light gray pickup truck

JG171389- A black vehicle

Weapon used:

Firearms

What you can do: 

  •  Always be aware of your surroundings
  •  Immediately report suspicious activity
  •  If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm 
  •  Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.) 
  •  Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
  •  If approached by a witness to the incident, request their contact information 
  •  Immediately dial 9-1-1 and remain on the scene when possible
