About the Crime

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 003rd District (Grand Crossing) of recent robbery incidents. In these incidents, two to three male offenders approached a victim, displayed handguns, and demanded the victim's property. The offenders took the victim's property and then fled the scene on foot or inside a vehicle. These robberies have occurred in the general geographical locations listed below: 

Incident times and locations

• 7100 block of south Prairie Ave. on January 26, 2023 at 9:50 P.M. 

• 7100 block of south State St. on February 4, 2023 at 9:45 A.M. 

• 7300 block of south Michigan Ave. on February 4, 2023 at 8:15 P.M. 

• 7000 block of south Michigan Ave. on February 6, 2023 at 2:30 P.M. 

• 7300 block of south Indiana Ave. on February 28, 2023 at 7:30 P.M. 

About the offenders

• The offenders are described as African-American males wearing black hooded sweatshirts. 

What you can do

• Always be aware of your surroundings 

• Report suspicious activity immediately 

• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm 

• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.) 

• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police 

• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information 

• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
