About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 12th and 19th Districts of recent related robbery incidents. In each instance, occurring during the late evening and early morning hours, multiple armed offenders approached victims on the public way and demanded the victims' property by threatening use of force. Upon taking possession of the victims’ personal belongings, the offenders entered into and fled in a waiting vehicle. In two of the reported incidents, the victim was battered in the side of the head.

  •  1500 block of West Altgeld Street on March 8, 2023 at 8:40 PM.
  •  700 block of West Fulton Market on March 8, 2023 t 10:20 PM.
  •  1000 block of West 18th Street on March 8, 2023 at 10:45 PM.
  •  1700 block of S. Union Avenue on March 9, 2023 at 12:50 AM.
  •  3400 block of North Marshfield on March 9, 2023 at 11:45 PM
  •  3300 block of North Ashland on March 10, 2023 at 12:18 AM
  •  1000 block of West Belmont on March 10, 2023 at 2:30 AM
  •  2200 block of West Madison on March 10, 2023 at 2:25 AM
  •  700 block of North Ashland on March 10, 2023 at 3:30 AM
Offender descriptions:

The offenders are described as four African American males, 18-22 years old, wearing darkhooded sweatshirts, dark-colored pants, and dark ski masks.

What you can do:

  •  Be aware of these crimes and alert family and friends who live in the area.
  •  Be aware of your surroundings and free from distractions.
  •  If you are confronted by an assailant, remain calm.
  •  Pay special attention to suspicious individuals or vehicles in the area.
  •  Call 911 immediately if you are a victim or witness to a crime and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information.
  •  If approached by a witness to an incident, request they remain on the scene when possible or obtain contact information.
