IUPUI gets past Chicago State in Men’s Tennis 4-3 | Chicago State University Cougars Men's Basketball

The Chicago State men's tennis team lost to IUPUI 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis. The Cougars earned the doubles point when, tied at 1-1, Hugo Hidalgo Vega and Percy Siercke teamed for a 6-4 win at No. 3 to deliver the team point. The Jaguars then rallied and won the first four singles matches to clinch the team victory and Hugo Hidalgo Vega won at No. 2 singles Pedro Alvarez won at No. 1 for the Cougars and the 4-3 final as Chicago State falls to 0-2 in the Horizon League. 

"We had great energy in doubles," head coach Jack Barton said. "We played really well but we can not depend on Hugo and Pedro to stay in every match. The entire team needs to step up and we can't have any excuses."

The men will be back on the court a week from today for a doubleheader, playing at North Central College on Sunday, March 26 at 9:30 a.m. at the Benet Academy Tennis Courts in Lisle then heading north to Evanston to face Northwestern at 6 p.m.
