Congressman Jonathan Jackson (D-IL), a proud member of the Equal Rights Amendment Caucus, joined ERA Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Cori Bush and Rep. Ayanna Pressley as they marched over to the Senate floor, demanding the passage of S.J. Res 4.  Watch Here.

Expressing deep disappointment, Congressman Jackson addressed the U.S. Senate's failure yesterday to pass S.J. Res 4, a joint resolution that would have removed the arbitrary deadline for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. "I am disheartened by the Senate's inability to advance this crucial resolution. The ERA, which affirms the equal treatment of men and women under the law, is long overdue, and there should be no time limit on equality," said Congressman Jackson.

Congressman Jackson, a strong voice for women and children, has also joined the Black Maternal Mortality Caucus and co-anchored a Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Special Order Hour on the Equal Rights Amendment.  Watch Here.

"We will not be deterred by this setback. The American people deserve better, and we will continue to fight for the ratification of the ERA, ensuring equal protection under the law for all, regardless of gender," Congressman Jackson added.

Congressman Jackson passionately stated, "As husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, and friends, we have a profound duty to champion the equal rights and opportunities of the women who share our lives. We must celebrate their invaluable contributions to society, recognize their intrinsic value, and tirelessly advocate for the ERA, tearing down the walls that hinder full equality. Watch Here.

Congressman Jackson remains committed to working with his colleagues in Congress to ensure that the Equal Rights Amendment becomes a fundamental part of the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing equal rights for all, regardless of sex.

The Equal Rights Amendment is a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution, which seeks to guarantee equal legal rights for all American citizens, regardless of sex. It aims to end the legal distinctions between men and women in terms of divorce, property, employment, and other matters. For more information on the ERA and ERA Caucus.
