CHICAGO, IL - In response to the Illinois Supreme Court finding the state's assault weapons ban constitutional, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) issued the following statement:
"I am pleased that the Illinois Supreme Court has recognized Illinois's common-sense assault weapons ban as constitutional. This law will save countless lives and make our communities safer. I want to thank Governor Pritzker and the Illinois General Assembly for fighting so hard to keep Illinoisans safe. It is long past time for Congress to follow Illinois's lead and pass common-sense gun safety measures, including a national assault weapons ban, to stop the cycle of violence and ensure that every community can thrive. I will continue to fight for safer communities in Congress."
