State Representative Brad Stephens (R-Rosemont) is hosting a blood drive in Leyden Township next week. The event will take place on Thursday, October 19th from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Leyden Township Senior Center in Franklin Park.

In a statement, Rep. Stephens encouraged constituents to participate in the blood drive, saying, "With Halloween ahead of us, constituents can trick and treat early at my October blood drive! By donating blood, you can give a vampire a trick and make a lifesaving donation for someone’s treat! Schedule an appointment today to make a lifesaving impact for your neighbors in need."

Appointments can be scheduled by visiting Vitalant.org, although walk-ins are also welcome. The blood drive is being held in partnership with Vitalant, an organization that works to ensure a sufficient blood supply for patients in hospitals, surgical centers, and emergency treatment facilities.

According to Vitalant, approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day to meet the needs of patients. In addition to the life-saving impact of blood donations, donors also have the opportunity to undergo mini-physical examinations, which include checking vital signs and hemoglobin levels.

Constituents who have questions about the event can call (773) 444-0611 for more information.

This blood drive provides an opportunity for constituents to come together and make a positive impact on their community. By donating blood, individuals can help save lives and support those in need of blood transfusions.
