The Chicago Republican Party Central Committee has released a unanimous statement expressing its unwavering support for Israel in light of the recent escalation in violence caused by the Hamas terrorist offensive.

In a press release, the Chicago GOP voiced strong condemnation for the targeting of civilians and called on President Biden to take all necessary actions to safeguard Israel from the threats posed by Hamas, Hezbollah, and their sponsor, Iran.

“The Chicago Republican Party Central Committee has voted unanimously to authorize a statement in full support of Israel in the wake of the terrorist offensive of Hamas,” the Chicago GOP said in a press release.

“The murderous butchering of civilians has given new proof to Golda Meir’s observation that ‘If the Palestinians lay down their weapons, there will be peace. If the Israelis lay down their weapons, there will be a massacre.’ We call upon President Biden to undertake all actions necessary to defend Israel from the machinations of Hamas, Hezbollah, and their sponsor, Iran.’”

“We join with the Illinois Republican Party in stating our disgust over the tepid pile of mashed potatoes that was the response of 16 Democratic members of the Illinois General Assembly, which blamed the barbaric attacks on “inequality.” Perhaps these leaders are simply ignorant, in that they overlook the wars of Arab states in 1948, 1967 and 1973 to destroy Israel, the two intifadas, or the fact that the Charter of Hamas expressly calls for “armed resistance” to the “occupation” – meaning existence – of Israel.”

“They may not know that Israel actually withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005, including the dismantling of 21 Jewish settlements, and handed control over to the Palestinians. In return the Palestinians installed Hamas, which has resulted in a steady stream of attacks, rockets and death in Israel. Perhaps the leaders are merely Anti-Semitic, in that the outright murder of hundreds of Jews is described only with the generic term of “violence.” Perhaps they are willfully blind to the threat of Iran, whose chief military officer has openly stated Iran’s intent to “annihilate” Israel within 25 years as Iran pursues development of nuclear weapons. We do not know, but we are certain of one thing: all 16 are wrong, and badly wrong. Israel has a right to defend its citizens from attack.”

“Unless American leaders will stand against the perpetrators of terrorism we can only expect it to spread around the world and into this country. The barbaric impulse in human nature always lurks within, needing only anger and an outlet to overwhelm what Abraham Lincoln called ‘the better angels of our nature.’ That impulse must always be confronted by civilized societies, be it in Israel or on the streets of Chicago.”

A group of 16 Democrat caucus state representatives and state senators signed a letter noting the attack from Hamas on Israeli civilians stemmed from “inequality.”

“We will not be able to achieve peace when millions of Palestinians are denied basic human rights. We urge the United States and the international community to work toward long-term solutions that end the inequality that is at the root cause of the violence,” the letter reads in part, Chicago City Wire previously reported.

Illinois GOP Chairman Don Tracy was unequivocal in his rebuke to the signatories of the letter.

“The Hamas attack and slaughter of young people at a concert, and their massacre of families, children, babies, and grandparents in southern Israel is an evil atrocity. There can be no justification for the unprovoked slaughter of innocents, and the hate that permeates ideologies that nonetheless seek to justify evil.”

“That is precisely what 16 Democrat leaders did earlier this week.”

“The inability of these elected officials to call out evil as evil, and their disgusting attempt to justify evil, should disqualify these individuals from holding public office in Illinois.”

“We call on Governor Pritzker and all Democrats of good faith to disavow this statement and to call on the individuals that made it to either withdraw and apologize or retire from public life.”

“Hate should have no home in Illinois — and the Democrat Party should not be a safe haven for those who would justify the slaughter of innocents.”

Public recently explored the shift in support for Hamas among some segments of the radical Left, attributing it to a perceived sense of privilege, coddling, and narcissism, marking a departure from their historical stance on peace and anti-militarism.

There have been many noted instances of left-wing organizations endorsing Hamas’ terrorist actions, illustrating a change in their approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

BLM Chicago notably posted a graphic of a hang-gliding militant, a nod to how many of the terrorists entered Israeli territory with the caption, “I stand with Palestine.” BLM Chicago later partially walked back the controversial post celebrating Hamas’ actions in Israel, acknowledging that the deleted graphic wasn’t something they were proud of.

This came as BLM Global Network Foundation distanced itself from the Chicago chapter and BLM Grassroots, which faced criticism for posts related to the Hamas attack and was accused of glorifying the terrorists, according to the New York Post.
