Chicago 15th Ward Alderman Ray Lopez, a 4th Congressional District candidate, is inviting supporters to join him at Athena Restaurant for a campaign fundraiser event. Scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 5-7 p.m., the event promises an opportunity to rally behind Lopez’s mission to serve the families of the 4th District in Illinois.
“Illinois’ 4th CD deserves a Congressman willing to stand up & be counted when it matters most. I have never been one to dodge important votes or vote ‘present’ to avoid controversy - and I never will,” Lopez said on Facebook.
“Voters, especially taxpayers, need common sense leadership that delivers. Join me on Nov. 15, and let’s make it happen!”
The campaign fundraiser will take place at Athena Restaurant, located at 212 South Halsted Street in Chicago. Attendees can expect to enjoy food and beverages as part of their ticket purchase. The event offers a chance to support Raymond Lopez’s congressional campaign and be a part of the positive change he envisions for Illinois’ 4th District. For those who prefer to contribute by check, RSVP by emailing Laurie@ldimakos.com and send your check to the following address: Raymond for Congress 2650 West 51st Street (Rear), Chicago, IL 60632.
Lopez recently criticized incumbent U.S. Rep. Chuy Garcia for consistently showing sympathy for those engaging in violence against innocent people, both abroad and domestically. He pointed to Garcia’s opposition to resolutions condemning the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement against Israel, as well as his vote against approving $1 billion in supplemental aid for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. The Republican National Committee also criticized Garcia for his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict suggesting it resembled Hamas’ propaganda.
In addition, Lopez raised concerns about Garcia’s ties to organized crime through his son a noted gang member in Chicago, and doubts were cast on his credibility regarding campaign donations and red light cameras, which have raised questions about his ability to address gang violence and public integrity issues.
The 4th Congressional District includes the Chicago neighborhoods of Brighton Park, West Elsdon, and South Lawndale; most of New City, Pilsen, Chicago Lawn, Clearing, Garfield Ridge and Bridgeport; the Cook County communities of Burbank, Berwyn, Cicero, Brookfield, LaGrange Park, Northlake, Melrose Park, Berkeley and Franklin Park; and the DuPage County communities of Hinsdale, Elmhurst and Oak Brook.
