Frederick Walls, the GOP candidate for Illinois House District 34 State Representative, is set to host the Christmas Blessings Giveaway on Dec. 16 at noon. The event will take place at the Mother Jones Food Pantry, located at 711 W 120th St. in Chicago.

“Come out and celebrate Jesus, the real reason for the season, as we bless children with toys!” A flyer promoting the event reads, emphasizing the spiritual aspect of the event and its connection to the essence of Christmas.

The initiative primarily collaborates with a distinguished local organization to bring about meaningful change. The Mother Jones Food Pantry, a 501(c)3 charitable organization committed to supporting local families in need, serves as the focal point for this charitable initiative. Having served the Chicago community since its opening in August 2008, the pantry faces numerous obstacles but remains dedicated to its mission of reaching hungry Chicagoans in Cook County, according to its website.

As a recent study reveals that 61% of the "working poor" face food insecurity, the Mother Jones Food Pantry underscores the urgent need for support to combat hunger, especially amid rising food prices and increased demand-straining resources.

Apart from organizing this giveaway event, Walls has been proactive in addressing other pressing community issues. Walls, a union journeyman carpenter, has been actively involved in addressing community concerns. He emphasizes the perceived attack on the biblical family structure and infringement on religious beliefs. Additionally, Walls has voiced his worries about the economic impact of rising gas prices due to pipeline shutdowns and pledged to be a voice for individuals affected by COVID-19 vaccine mandates, according to Kankakee Times.
