City of Wheaton Bicyclist and Pedestrian Commission met Oct. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

I Call to Order 

7:00 pm 

Members present live: Bob V, Bill N, Laurel, George S, Connor G, Alyse G, Michelle D, Cate, David, Lou 

Members present via Zoom: None 

Members absent: None

II. Agenda Item 

Approval of September Minutes

Unanimously approved via voice vote.

III. Public Comment - Scott - would love a sidewalk by Marion Joy 

IV. Agenda Item 

Chair Report- Guest Joseph E. Tebrugge- 

● We/city are looking complete streets

● We are looking at older parts of the city, concerns from public, how can we make infrastructure good for all types of transportation

● Brighton land reduced speed by about 3 mph

● Budget comes first then consideration for biking and walkers

● Carlton area right of way of PP will be owned by City of Wheaton

● Read the Complete Streets Policy

Chair Report- Cromwell Path Signage - City is still reviewing the request

Chair Report-West St. South Proposal 

We will not be proposing anything. Engineering has said unrealistic to change anything in this area.

Chair Report-Welcome to IPP proposal 

John DuGuay emailed Michelle- need to get authorization/permission from DuPage DOT/IPP.

○ WBPC Sandwich Board Sign - 36’x18’- has a handle well below $500 - will email to group 

○ Crosswalk Signs we bought two for $874.20 give one to Hawthorne - Bill to orchestrate larger than life ribbon cutting

A. APS at crossings proposal - Bill motioned to pass the motion as writtenCate seconded the motion. Unanimously approved by voice vote. Alyse to send to the city

C. Underpass walk for downtown trick or treat? Oct 28 10am-4pm $150 in budget - no

i. Michelle to attend Trails Stakeholder meeting Nov 2, please give her any feedback you’d like to provide or you can yourself on website

E. Virtual History Ride Famous Women of Wheaton - work with Bob /City for spring launch
