Ashley Ramos, a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, has voiced her concerns about the allocation of resources in Chicago, accusing Mayor Brandon Johnson of prioritizing the needs of illegal migrants over those of the city's vulnerable citizens during severe winter conditions. Ramos implies a link between delayed body removal operations and resource allocation towards addressing the needs of illegal migrants.

“I warned this would happen,” Ramos said on X. “@ChicagosMayor Brandon Johnson is willing to trade frozen citizens losing their lives to brutal temperatures in the streets while using life saving resources to cater to illegal migrants.”

“Shame on you.”

Ramos's critique comes in response to reports from SubX News that highlighted a delay in collecting frozen bodies in the city. SubX News reported that the backlog in body removal operations has resulted in delays up to an hour beyond the regular timeframe.

“Body Removal backed up an hour over the regular time ... this person is frozen at a tent city near 4500 Ogden in a shipping container …” SubX News said on X.

Ramos, who resides in Bradley and grew up in Chicago Heights, completed her education at Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School in 2005 and pursued radiology courses at Kankakee Community College. As an e-commerce specialist and devoted mother, she offers a diverse range of skills. According to her campaign website, Ramos is also a licensed notary and holds certification in CPR.

The 2nd Congressional District encompasses the south suburbs of Chicago, eastern Will County, most of Kankakee County and Chicago’s far southeast side. Currently represented by U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.), who has held office since 2013. Kelly also serves as Chair of the Illinois Democratic Party as per Ballotpedia.
