The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced plans to conduct pavement repairs on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive (DLSD) starting Monday, May 13. This initiative is part of the 2024 Arterial Resurfacing program, with pavement patching and other roadway repairs scheduled throughout May and June. The resurfacing work is set to commence in the fall.
The first phase of this project, which will last until late June, will affect the following sections of North DLSD: northbound lanes from Lawrence Avenue to Hollywood Avenue and southbound lanes from Hollywood Avenue to LaSalle Drive.
Lane closures have been scheduled as follows:
- From May 13 to May 17, two northbound lanes between Lawrence and Hollywood Avenues will be closed daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. One lane will remain closed continuously throughout the week.
- From May 20 to May 24, two southbound lanes between Hollywood Avenue and LaSalle Drive will be closed daily from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Again, one lane will remain closed continuously throughout the week.
Additional updates on lane closures will be provided as the project progresses. Traffic updates can also be found at chicago.gov/CDOT.
Please note that these schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
CDOT advises drivers traveling on DLSD to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys. If possible, alternate routes should be considered. The department encourages people to use public transportation during this period. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving near work zones, obey posted speed limits, drive with caution, and stay alert for workers and equipment.
