The Department of Central Management Services has received a directive from Governor JB Pritzker, instructing all individuals and entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act to fly their flags at half-staff. This gesture is in honor and remembrance of Firefighter Recruit Cristian Medrano, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty.

Medrano, a 27-year-old recruit with the Aurora Fire Department, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024. The governor's order mandates that all United States and State flags at buildings occupied by agency personnel be lowered from sunrise on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 to sundown on Friday, May 24, 2024.
